Markette Sheppard is a media executive with an Emmy-award winning broadcast journalism foundation who builds media platforms from zero to profitability. As the current Head of News & Public Information for a nonprofit TV station, she directs multimedia strategy for Maryland’s largest and most diverse county while creating original programming that drives both audience engagement and revenue generation.
At the CBS affiliate in Washington, D.C., she built their flagship morning show. Later, she founded Glow Stream TV, launching it on Roku and Amazon Fire TV with original content programming. Her ability to see opportunity where others see empty space has consistently delivered both creative excellence and business results.
In her nonprofit work, she managed film production partnerships with P&G Studios and Queen Latifah’s Queen Collective while overseeing substantial budgets and complex communications systems. When organizations face their most challenging communications moments, they turn to Markette for strategic clarity.
An Emmy award-winner and published author of three children’s books with Simon & Schuster and a fourth under her eponymous publishing company, Markette combines storytelling excellence with proven business acumen. She consistently chooses mission-driven organizations where communications can drive meaningful social impact. Her rare ability to create compelling narratives that generate revenue while advancing organizational missions positions her as a transformational communications leader.
Markette earned a Master of Arts in Interactive Journalism from American University and a Certificate in Digital Marketing Strategy from Harvard Business School Executive Education.
In 2025, Markette launched the Mason Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund in celebration of two lives well lived: her late cousin Eunice L. Mason and late grandmother, Cora D. Jones.
In her spare time, she enjoys baking, traveling, outdoor adventures and spending time with her husband, son and miniature Schnauzer.
